Dion McCurdy
Founder of Direct Lawyers and experienced in Estate Planning, Administration and Litigation, Dion McCurdy draws his legal expertise from many years of legal experience working for boutique, mid-tier and independent legal firms.
Dion’s experience saw him working in Estate Planning for high net worth individuals, families, vulnerable beneficiaries, international residents and business owners.
What’s more, Dion’s experience encompasses Not-for-Profit (NFP), Charity, Start-up, Social Enterprise and Commercial Law. His first-hand knowledge of running a charity gives him a unique skillset and greater understanding of client founders.
Now, Dion acts as legal counsel for couples and individuals, festivals, not-for-profits, charities and companies.
He has invaluable experience, sound legal knowledge and excellent reputation as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland.

Liam began his career at Direct Lawyers as a Law Clerk while he studied his Bachelor of Laws (Hons) at the Queensland University of Technology. He was admitted as an Australian Legal Practitioner on 15 August 2022.
Drawing on the mentorship of the Founder and Principal of Direct Lawyers, Dion McCurdy, Liam’s holistic and detailed approach to Estate Planning, Administration and Litigation has allowed him to hit the ground running as a solicitor.
Liam’s years of experience at Direct Lawyers have given him the opportunity to work with a variety of clients, each with their own issues and needs. It is this experience that has equipped Liam with an arsenal of legal solutions, each with the aim of achieving the best outcome for his clients.
Outside the law
Passionate about improving the world around him, Dion is the Co-founder and CEO of NewVote, an independent charity working to advance education and enhance democracy. In this capacity, he travels extensively, speaking on Political Science and Democracy at national and international conferences and forums.
Dion is an Adjunct Associate Lecturer at the University of Queensland in the School of Political Science and International Studies. Through the university, he mentors and fosters Queensland’s best and brightest students.
Dion is a recognised social entrepreneur, expert on democracy and a thought leader, with a strong commitment for helping society. His legal expertise, dedication to, and empathy for his clients enable him to seek out the best solutions for them.
